About Us
What the Music Meant to Me is a publication of Syracuse Micro Publishing.
Music means different things to different people. It can take you back to summers long ago, or remind you of people you once knew. For me, it was always lyrics that drew me into certain songs. The Eagles lyric, "you can see the stars but still not see the light," always held great meaning to me. Or Jimmy Buffet's lyric, "I took off for a weekend last month, Just to try and recall the whole year, All of the faces and all of the places, Wonderin where they all disappeared, I didn't ponder the question too long, I was hungry and went out for a bite, Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum, and we wound up drinkin all night," will forever remind me of my early twenties, when I had few responsibilities and each day seemed to unravel into a new adventure. The goal of What the Music Meant to Me (WTMMTM) is to capture a variety of authors' experience of what the music meant to them.
What the Music Meant to Me is a publication of fiction and non-fiction stories ranging from two to ten pages per story (750 words to 20,000 words). The stories will be unified via a common denominator. That denominator is that each story will be titled by a song lyric. The theme of each story will be based on the song lyric however the lyric will not be used in the individual stories.
